Dominating the 2026 BRIT Awards, Olivia Dean is tipped to score the James Bond film soundtrack

JAKARTA - Olivia Dean is now being touted and is in the lead position to fill the theme song for the latest James Bond film.

Quoting NME, Dean's chances jumped drastically after he swept away various prestigious awards at the BRIT Awards held last weekend.

Dean's big win at the 2026 BRIT Awards was the main catalyst. He managed to bring home the Album of the Year trophy for his breakthrough album, "The Art Of Loving", as well as Song of the Year through his slick collaboration with Sam Fender in the song "Rein Me In". Not stopping there, he was also named Artist of the Year and Best Pop Act.

If elected, Dean will follow in the footsteps of iconic singers such as Adele, Sam Smith, and Billie Eilish who have previously successfully performed the theme song for the 007 secret agent.

Under Dean's position, Raye's name appears, followed by Lana Del Rey, Dua Lipa, and Harry Styles. Other popular names such as Oasis, Chappell Roan, and Charli XCX are also included in this list.

Currently, the latest James Bond film project is in the development stage under Amazon's creative control.

Director Denis Villeneuve is confirmed to direct the film with a script written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.

Even though the singer's position is starting to narrow down, the actor who will play the Bond character himself is still a mystery.

Regarding the speculation of the theme song, several musicians have also started to respond. Charli XCX humbly expressed her doubts while still opening up opportunities.

On the other hand, Olivia Dean herself is busy with her role as an ambassador for Record Store Day 2026 - showing her concern for the music ecosystem, Dean emphasizes the importance of maintaining the sustainability of independent music stores.

"It's really important for us to continue to support them and keep them alive," Dean said of his love of independent physical release stores.
