JAKARTA - The artist whose stage performance is always anticipated, Mitski released her eighth studio album with the title Nothing's About to Happen to Me. Released via Dead Oceans, Mitski also presents a music video for the main song on the album, If I Leave.

After I'll Change For You, a hopeless bossanova song (The Needle Drop), Mitski now presents the story of conflict and doubt in If I Leave. He again brings the theme of a song that represents a sense of loneliness so deeply.

The music video for If I Leave was directed by Jared Hogan, with a stunning execution in capturing the gloom, dark but also humorous feel. Set in a house filled with threats and past stories, each room holds traces of life and strange moments that have ever happened in it.

Mitski and her bandmates perform in these haunted spaces with a calm and indifferent attitude, their straightforward presence making the audience feel stable, even though the room around them is filled with tension. The house is the true character here; Mitski and her music are the common thread that connects the era and its horrors.

On the album Nothing's About to Happen to Me, Mitski wrote all the songs and sang all the vocals. The album was produced by Patrick Hyland, and mastered by Bob Weston.

There is a continuation of the musical line that has been set in the 2023 album, The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, as well as featuring live instruments from the Land tour band and ensemble arrangements. The orchestra was recorded at Sunset Sound and TTG Studios, arranged and conducted by Drew Erickson, and engineered by Michael Harris.

Mitski will then take the material from this new album to select cities around the world with residencies in select major cities, six nights at The Shed in New York City (plus a separate installation of Tansy House), five nights at Hollywood High School in Los Angeles, and four nights at the Sydney Opera House in Sydney. Additional venues include Mexico City, Istanbul, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, London, Manila, Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore.

In addition to Mitski's performance, The Shed will host the Tansy House Exhibition from Friday, February 27 to the end of the series of performances. The Tansy House exhibition gives fans the opportunity to explore the rich visual world of Nothing's About to Happen to Me through a house that is limited by fabric and revealed one room at a time.

Fans will be invited to step inside a milieu where vivid scenes and subtle stories unfold. From the touches of Victorian charm to the hidden chaos in its corners, each space reflects the album's spiritual home, The Tansy House.
