JAKARTA - American rock giant Foo Fighters officially ended months of speculation by announcing their 12th studio album titled Your Favorite Toy.

This announcement was accompanied by the launch of a flagship single with the same title on Thursday, February 19, which marked a significant creative shift for Dave Grohl et al.

The album, which is scheduled to be released on April 24 via Roswell Records and Columbia Records, was self-produced by Foo Fighters with Oliver Roman.

Interestingly, "Your Favorite Toy" is the first record to involve Ilan Rubin behind the drums, after he officially joined to replace Josh Freese in a unique "position exchange" scenario.

The lead single "Your Favorite Toy" comes with explosive energy, blending distorted guitar riffs with a majestic piano melody and an addictive chorus.

The frontman, Dave Grohl, said that this song is a blueprint for the overall direction of their new album after going through a long experimental process.

"'Your Favorite Toy' really is the key that opens the tone and energetic direction of this new album," Grohl said, quoted by NME, Friday, February 20.

"We found it after experimenting with different sounds and dynamics for over a year, and the day the song was formed, I knew that we had to follow its instructions," he added. "It was the axis for the gunpowder of the songs that we finally recorded for this record. It feels new."

The album, which was recorded entirely at the private residence, will contain ten songs, including the previously released single, "Asking For A Friend".

Foo Fighters are also scheduled to kick off a summer tour of the UK and Europe, including a headline appearance at Liverpool FC's Anfield Stadium, before continuing the 'Take Cover' tour to Australia and New Zealand in 2026 and 2027.
