Laufey Awali 2026 with Receiving the Highest Honor from Iceland

Laufey began 2026 by receiving the Order of the Falcon, the highest honor given by the country of Iceland to recognize the extraordinary contributions of citizens and foreigners to the honor, prosperity of Iceland, or humanity in general.

Through his personal Instagram account, the 26-year-old singer-songwriter uploaded a moment when he received an honorary mark that was immediately given by the President of Iceland, Halla Tómasdóttir.

"Today I had the honor of receiving the Order of the Falcon award from our President, Halla Tómasdóttir," Laufey wrote, quoting the caption of the upload, Friday, January 2.

At the same time, Laufey also expressed her pride as an Icelandic woman.

"As you all know, I am very proud to be an Icelandic person and proud to be part of a strong, intelligent, and artistic population (led by amazing women!!)," he added.

Furthermore, the singer of "Lover Girl" reflects on how 2025 has been a long journey in the music world, from the release of the album "A Matter of Time", holding an arena tour for the first time, founding a foundation to support music education for young musicians, to introducing a mascot named Mei Mei The Bunny.

"This New Year's Day has brought a lot of emotions and I have tried to find the right words to thank you all for this amazing year," Laufey said.

A total of 14 Icelandic citizens received the Order of the Falcon in early 2026. In addition to Laufey, the other two musicians who received this honor were Anna Júlíana Sveinsdóttir and Bragi Valdimar Skúlason.
