Tangerang's Sumatra-Aceh Charity Concert Collects Rp 1.3 Billion in Donations

JAKARTA - The charity concert initiated to help the victims of the Sumatra-Aceh disaster became a symbol of community solidarity to help others. The event, which was held by a number of elements of the Tangerang City community, Banten Province, managed to collect Rp1.3 billion in funds.

"This is one form of togetherness to increase concern for our brothers and sisters who are affected by the disasters in Aceh, West Sumatra, North Sumatra and Java. Together from Tangerang City to Indonesia cares," said Tangerang Mayor Sachrudin, quoted by ANTARA on Sunday, December 14.

The Mayor invited all elements of the community to help the residents affected by the disaster in Sumatra and Aceh through financial donations and prayers.

"The concern of the Indonesian people is currently very needed in returning to restore conditions in Aceh, West Sumatra and North Sumatra, especially the disaster-affected areas are so vast.

"Not only today, but our concern can continue in various ways and the needs of the community there. Assistance can be channeled through official institutions so that assistance is targeted," he said.

Meanwhile, the charity concert was held on Saturday, December 13 at night at the Electric Park. The funds collected amounted to Rp. 1.3 billion consisting of donations from Tangerang City Government employees of more than Rp. 500 million and Rp. 800 million from the people of Tangerang City through Baznas Kota Tangerang and the Action Team for Care for Sumatra - Aceh which was initiated by the Tangerang City MUI.

Wakil Ketua Baznas Kota Tangerang Sobrun Jamili mengatakan kepedulian Pemerintah dan Masyarakat Kota Tangerang dalam membantu penanganan Bencana di Sumatera dan Aceh sangat luar biasa. Hal ini terlihat dari jumlah donasi yang terkumpul.

Sobrun also added that the Tangerang City Baznas had sent the Baznas Disaster Response Team since December 3, 2025 to the West Sumatra, North Sumatra and Aceh regions.

"The Baznas disaster response team has carried out activities to serve the people of Aceh, West Sumatra and North Sumatra, in the form of public kitchen services, clean water distribution, basic food packages, hygiene kits and resik actions to clean up the mud after the flood, we have also prepared a program to build temporary housing and emergency mosques", said Sobrun. The region with the most victims was recorded in Agam Regency, North Aceh, and Central Tapanuli. In addition, hundreds of people are still reported missing, thousands of others are injured, and hundreds to thousands of public facilities, health, education, places of worship, office buildings, and bridges are reported to have been damaged.

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) when releasing 19 aid trucks said that of the 23 districts/cities in Aceh, 18 areas were affected. In North Sumatra, 18 of the 33 districts/cities were affected, while in West Sumatra, 16 of the 19 affected areas, so that a total of 52 districts/cities were affected.

AHY said that flash floods and landslides in Aceh and Sumatra were due to the unusual Tropical Cyclone Senyar phenomenon in Indonesia. Tropical cyclones usually only occur in the Philippines to Taiwan.

"The central government together with the provincial and district/city governments has been on the ground since the first days of the incident. And until now we continue to make efforts to handle rehabilitation and reconstruction," he said.
