Guitarist And Commissioner Michael Jackson, Phil Upcurch Dies At 84 Years Old

JAKARTA - One of the world's music legends, Phil Upchurch is reported to have passed away on November 23 yesterday. He is a guitarist and composer who collaborated with a number of legendary musicians such as totaling Jones and Michael Jackson.

The news was broadcast by various foreign media today, Thursday, December 4. Phil died at the age of 84 years with a long track record in the music industry.

Throughout his career, Phil Upchurch is said to have filled around 1000 records for singers and musicians. He was involved in at least 30 music albums, including his guitar playing on Chaka Khan's song I'm Every Woman which achieved great success in the 70s.

Phil also played for Donny Hathaway's solo album and live album, leading production of Curtis Mayfield and writing songs for George Benson.

Known as guitarist and confidant of producer total Jones, Upchurch began to love music at the age of 13 when his father caught him by ukulele. The father himself was a jazz pioneer, who gave Phil his musical talent.

Apart from leaving his mark in musical works, Phil Upchurch also released two books. He was reportedly working on an autobiographic book before he passed away.
