Attorney Calls There Are Tricks To Damage Melani Mecimapro's Good Name

JAKARTA - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) has read out the indictment against the Director of PT Melania Citra Permata (Mecimapro), Fransiska Dwi Meilani alias Melani, during the inaugural trial at the South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday, December 2.

Melani was charged with harming PT Media Inspiration Bangsa (MIB) as a co-worker in holding a Twice concert in Jakarta on December 23, 2023.

He was threatened with crime as regulated in Article 372 of the Criminal Code concerning embezzlement or Article 378 of the Criminal Code regarding fraud.

In the indictment, it was stated that Mecimapro earned a profit of Rp35 billion. However, these profits were only used for Melani's personal interests.

The Director of Mecimapro also did not return the funds according to the agreement with MIB, in the form of an investment of IDR 10 billion and a profit of 23 percent.

Ardi Wira as Melani's attorney said that his party would file a rebuttal (exception) on the indictment read out by the prosecutor.

Although he did not deny that Melani had not paid the funds, Ardi said that the problems between his client and MIB could not be brought to the criminal realm.

"As we listened to earlier from the Public Prosecutor, it was revealed that this case was actually an agreement or agreement," Ardi told the media crew after the trial.

"From this agreement, it was agreed for a project, namely the activity to present a K-Pop concert, which we both know the concert has been held," added Ardi. Therefore, we convey in this case, something that started from the agreement, all should submit and comply with the agreement, not the criminal process.

Furthermore, Melani's attorney stated that there was an error, where the agreement should have entered the civil realm, but was brought to justice.

He emphasized that this criminal process had damaged the good name of Melani and Mecimapro.

"Our legal advisory team assesses that there are indeed 'acts' rather than the civil process being transferred to a criminal process. These considerations become proven when the indictment is read," said Ardi.

"Because this is something that makes sense, it damages the good name of our clients, which incidentally is a promoter of a K-Pop concert, and damages the good name of the company and the activities that are currently operating," he concluded.
