JAKARTA - The prestigious music campus in the US, Berklee College of Music, announced the first recipients of the fantastic-value Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole Scholarships, namely Paris Pineyro.
The scholarship worth US$75,000 or around Rp1.1 billion is a joint offering from the Natalie Cole Foundation and the Nat King Cole Generation of Hope.
This education fund was formed as a sign of the 75th anniversary of Natalie Cole's birth. More than that, the scholarship also aims to celebrate the eternal legacy and innovation of Nat King Cole and his daughter.
Pineyro himself is a second-year student at Berklee who is known as the Paris Dior stage. He majored in the business/music management and performances.
In an official statement issued by Berklee, Pineyro revealed that this award surpassed recognition for his achievements.
"This is more than just a confession This reflects every struggle and every moment when I ward off doubt," Pineyro said, quoted by Billboard, Friday, November 28.
"This reminds me that even though the path feels impossible, persistence can produce something truly 'unforgettable'," citing the iconic Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole, "he continued. I would like to express my sincere appreciation for being selected as the first recipient of this scholarship. This is an unexpected honor that fills me with deep gratitude.
