JAKARTA - After recording brilliant achievements through two full albums, Pilot (2021) and Pancarona (2024), The Lantis again confirmed its existence by releasing an extended play (EP) entitled 'How to Love'.

This release is not just a collection of new songs, but an affirmation of the evolution of their musicals, where the personnel relentlessly process the depth of taste as the main source of the creation of works.

EP How to Love is a manifestation of The Lantis' courage to dive into the darkest dimension of a relationship of affection. They thoroughly explore grief, make peace with the existing reality, then rearrange the pieces of loss so that it becomes a life-filled work.

This work not only celebrates the beauty of love alone, but serves as an in-depth emotional autopsy on it: a firm understanding of The Lantis that loving actually also includes readiness to lose.

The five tracks that fill this EP are completely bound by one common thread, namely the Five Stages of Grief or Five Stages of Grief. The concept comes as a reflection of the phase of emotional life that almost surely each individual has passed.

The concept was not originally planned on purpose, but naturally appeared during the cultivation process.

"Initially there was no intention of making a concept like this. But when the song was finished, we saw the common thread: everything about how to love," said Ravi Rinaldy, guitarist and vocalist of The Lantis, in his statement, Friday, November 14.

The versions are different. And from there we realized that the way to love someone was not only seen from how you love him during love, but how do you love him when you go down too. How do you respond to that too," added Ravi.

These three tracks from EP have been introduced to the public, namely Bunga Sorry (November 2024), Ambang Rindu (April 2025), and Terunjuh Diri (August 2025). Simultaneously with the EP launch, the album opening track How to Love and focus track If is also released.

Each song maps a phase of grief: The opening song "How to Love" represents a denial (denial) phase decorated with subtle sacrifices. "Together for Yourself" illustrate anger (anger) "an explosion of despair which ultimately transforms into the guts to leave. "Ambang Rindu" acts as a bargaining (bargaining), a moment when someone starts trying to bid on fate with a deep longing.

Furthermore, "Bumba maaf" transforms into depression (depression), when regret comes late and all words are no longer meaningful. Finally, "If" closes the narrative with a calm and honest acceptance (acceptance): a recognition that not all stories are created to last forever.

Ravi added that the important message behind this acceptance phase, "Sometimes there is a story that just stops by in your life. But it's important to remember, because he's part of you too. Maybe not forever, but once been your life."

Meanwhile, the creative process and overall work of EP materials took six months, from October 2024 to April 2025. This period is referred to as the most collaborative phase in the history of The Lantis. For the first time, three core personnel, Giri Virandi (bass, vocals), Ravi Rinaldy (guitar, vocals), and Rifki Dzaky Fauzan alias Ojan (guitar), involved outside producers. They took Rendy Pandugo and Krisna Trias.

Four songs were worked on with Rendy, while the song "Ambang Rindu" was created with Krisna in an extraordinary spontaneous session. The session, which was originally only aimed at perfecting the old song, actually produced a new work in less than an hour.

Regarding the rapid process of song creation, Ojan said, "Initially we wanted to fix an old song. It was only when we made the new chorus, it turned out to be better if we made songs from scratch again. And the flow was very, very natural. A hour is the song."

For The Lantis, this EP is also a forum for building emotional maturity in music, especially because all lyric writing and composition are done collectively.

"In EP, we wrote all three songs," said Ravi. "Previously, sometimes there were myself, sometimes Giri herself. Now full together. It feels like being more honest, more 'we are really.'"

Through EP How to Love, The Lantis strives to provide a safe space for anyone who is trying to accept a loss. They want to prove that grief and love can coexist without eliminating each other.
