Dave Mustaine Says Megadeth's Farewell Tour Could Last Up To Five Years

JAKARTA - Megadeth founder and frontman Dave Mustaine spoke about the band's planned farewell tour which is officially scheduled to take place next year.

The 64-year-old rocker stated that the concert series titled "This Was Our Life" would mark the end of Megadeth's more than four decades of musical travel.

But Mustaine ensured that a breakup from fans would not happen in a short time. The tour is not planned for just one to two years.

"We are easily discussing the tour for the next three to five years," Mustaine said, in a recent interview with Kerrang.

"And if we're going to do it that long, then I'll see a birthday that I don't even want to think about," he added, referring to the fact that he would turn 70 in 2031.

Meanwhile, as a musician who manages to overcome drug and alcohol addiction, and manages to fight throat cancer, Mustaine insists that she is not too attached to the concept of longevity.

"I'm not obsessed with longevity and things like that, and being one of those people who can play until the 80s," he said. I have to remember that people live and they die. And I have to take good care of myself.

Even so, Mustaine expressed her deep appreciation to the fans who gave great support for Megadeth's final album and farewell tour.

"There are so many musicians who arrive at the end of their careers, whether intentional or unintentional," Mustaine said. "Most of them can't end it in their own way at the top, and that's where I'm in my life right now. I've been around the world and making millions of fans and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them."

Furthermore, Mustaine expressed her enthusiasm for a comeback before resigning completely.

"We can't wait for you to hear this album and see us on tour. If there's a good time for us to release a new album, it's now. If there's a good time to tour around the world, it's now," Mustaine said.

"This is also the right time for us to let you know that this is our last studio album. We have made a lot of friends over the years and I look forward to seeing you all on our global farewell tour," he concluded.
