LANY Presents Thematic Exploration On Soft Album

JAKARTA - The multi-platinum-winning pop-rock band, LANY, finally greeted his loyal listeners through the latest project, the sixth full album titled "Soft", having previously been absent for two years.

This album is not just a collection of ten songs, but an exploration of thematics and visuals about contrasting violence living with straightforward honesty to produce unavoidable duality which is at the heart of this work.

Along with the album launch, LANY also released a music video for the main song which is also titled "Soft."

Taking inspiration from the transformative life experience, "Soft" captures LANY's courage to move forward: fight the temptation to be harsh and rigid, and vice versa choose to stay soft in its core, while building a strong fort outside to protect vulnerable feelings.

Frontman Paul Klein said the philosophical core behind the album explains how gentleness is a conscious choice in the midst of world turmoil.

"In a world full of sin and despair, difficulties are constant, betrayal is rampant, and disappointment is inevitable," Klein said in a press release received by VOI, Wednesday, October 15.

"The easiest thing is to let life and people make you hard and numb," he continued. But then, what does life mean if we can't feel anything? Forgive me, forgiveness is and the only way to go forward."

What Klein said confirms that "Soft" is not about weakness, but rather a force born from vulnerability.

Meanwhile, all of this project was produced by Tommy King and each of his songs was written together by Paul Klein.

"Soft" presents LANY's distinctive sensitivity in neater, polarized, and intense packaging. Klein's honest and feeling lyrics that have long been their global attraction are now combined with sharper, more focused, and thicker production styles with R&B's musical textures from the 1990s and early 2000s.

Of the ten songs presented, the album offers an familiar and warm LANY approach through piano ballads and touch of pop bedrooms but with a much wider and denser coverage. This musicality transition feels like nostalgia moving forward, marking a significant change of maturity.

This album is a project that explicitly lets vulnerabilities arise without sacrificing power, presenting listeners with deep reflections about love, loss, and personal growth.

With the start of a new era, "Soft" is a promising start. Fans can also hope to hear these new materials live in a band tour series scheduled for 2026.
