A Musicology Concert That Turns To A Riot And Jonkoppings' Confession

JAKARTA - The lips are not dry yet, discussing the series of music concerts that were canceled in the past month. Unexpectedly, last weekend, Saturday, November 30, an embarrassing incident occurred again. The 2019 Musicology Concert which took place at Plaza Timur Senayan, Jakarta ended in chaos. Not only did a number of bands cancel their performance but also caused the stage to collapse and the tents on fire.

In its official statement via Instagram social media, Musikologi explained the real incident and apologized to the audience and artists who canceled their performance. They said that one of the factors that caused the condition to become chaotic and not conducive was the cancellation of Fourtwnty and Feel Koplo from going on stage due to a very late schedule.

"Good evening. Sorry to issue a clarification, because we have to collect data to calm ourselves, and must ensure the safety of the committee members who are being hunted by unscrupulous spectators.

We confirm that there was a riot at the end of the 2019 Musikologi (Red Stage) event.

The thing that caused the riot was the stage that suddenly died without notice.

Previously, on the white stage, Fourtwnty failed to get on stage because the series of events on the white stage was 'delayed' by an hour because it had a break around 18.00-18.30 due to heavy rain and a puddle under the stage.

Another thing that caused Fourtwnty's play to be canceled was the arrival of one of the artists due to the congestion of the Senayan complex because there were more than 3 major events that day so we couldn't book the parking area for artists.

Fourtwnty's cancellation was also due to the fact that the entire crew had to leave for Bali in the early hours, while the event on the white stage would end at 00.30, we had offered to change flight schedules but according to Fourtwnty's manager it could not be because the schedule in Bali was tight so it was not possible.

We do not confirm that the stage collapsed because from the very beginning the shape of the stage was already triangular.

It is different with the white stage. The red stage 'stretched' 90 minutes. The red stage which is higher than the white stage does not really affect the rain so even when it rains the event continues.

The 'delay' of the red stage was caused by one of the opening band's sound engineers (Jonkoppings. For comparison, please see their detailed reasons) which caused some of the artist's soundcheck data (The Panturas, The Sigit, grin, Feel Koplo) to disappear and had to re-soundcheck before going on stage with limited time.

The event started to become unfavorable the second time it rained very hard and it overwhelmed the committee to hold the BRC fence so it didn't collapse by the wind.

Jonkoppings Confesses

Meanwhile, the band from Pamulang, Jonkoppings, apologized for having made a mistake which resulted in a number of bands canceling their performances. Through their Twitter account, they revealed that a technical error on their monitor mixer resulted in missing the sound monitors of several bands that had been saved. This made the bands have to do a soundcheck before playing and it was quite time consuming.

"At 18.30 we received the news of the technical error from our colleagues and we are still looking for our sound engineer to take responsibility for the mistake. But we could not be contacted, we just got news from him at around 00.42 and he had arrived home at 22:00," them on Twitter.

"Once again we apologize profusely to the band, committee and visitors for technical errors that resulted in setbacks in addition to weather factors and so on, in musicology. This is the biggest lesson for our band. Thank you."

Musikologi later emphasized that they were not trying to defend themselves. What was stated and addressed to them about the inability to organize the event could be true. The explorers only attempted to convey the chronology from their point of view.

Even though it was the artist crew who was rolling the cables and tidying the equipment. . The thing that makes us disappointed is that the security personnel we don't know just left as if they were innocent, until the police broke up the riot. Indeed, the delay of the program was a mistake. But to our knowledge the Sultan's hotel security has no right to carry out such sabotage or to take such vital decisions without consulting the authorities. --- (2/3)
