JAKARTA - The 2025 Indonesian Music Conference (KMI), which officially opened in Jakarta yesterday, Wednesday, October 8, will discuss many things about the challenges facing the music ecosystem in Indonesia.

This conference is a gathering place for all music stakeholders to discuss many things in order to realize better Indonesian music in the future.

Minister of Culture (Menbud) Fadli Zon in his opening speech at KMI 2025, described several important points to be achieved.

"Through KMI 2025, we want to ensure that, firstly, music can become one of the strong cultural infrastructure and a sustainable economic driver," said Fadli at The Sultan Hotel & Residence, Jakarta, Wednesday.

"Second, the construction of collaboration across ministries and institutions so that music policies take sides with the perpetrators," he continued.

"Third, Indonesian cultural diplomacy was created that succeeded through music from local channels to the global stage," added Fadli again.

At the point when, said Fadli, what he wants to achieve is in line with the Ministry of Culture, which is now seeking better known Indonesian culture on the international stage through the management of national talent in the field of cultural arts.

"In addition, there is a constitutional mandate that I always quote in various places, Article 32 paragraph 1 of the 1945 Constitution, it reads: "The state advances Indonesia's national culture in the midst of world civilization by guaranteeing the community in maintaining and developing its cultural values," said Fadli.

"So, there is a constitutional order, the state advances Indonesia's national culture in the midst of world civilization. Not only in Indonesia, but in the midst of world civilization," he said.

Furthermore, Fadli sees the huge potential of music as soft power. And as soft power, we hope that musicians, composers, and those who are engaged in the music industry can bring Indonesian music to more visible in the international arena," he said.

"Finally, I think through the theme 'One Basic Nada', let's continue to strengthen our commitment, expand cooperation, ensure that Indonesian music continues to live on the national stage, in the digital space, and in the hearts of the world community," concluded Fadli Zon.
