Glenn Fredly's Heritage And Spirit Are Remembered At The Opening Of The 2025 Indonesian Music Conference

JAKARTA - The aspirations and struggles of the late Glenn Fredly became the main foundation for the implementation of the 2025 Indonesian Music Conference (KMI).

This event is a continuation of the long track record of the Indonesian music ecosystem, whose mapping has started since the music conference in Ambon in 2018 and in Bandung a year later.

Now, the event that brings together all Indonesian music ecosystem players is officially held in Jakarta. KMI 2025 will take place from October 8 to 10, at The Sultan Hotel & Residence, Central Jakarta.

The opening ceremony of KMI 2025 was full of emotion as well as a new spirit to continue what the late Glenn Fredly had fought for.

Deputy Minister of Culture (Wamenbud) Giring Ganesha and Raffi Ahmad as Special Envoys for the President for the Development of the Young Generation and Art Workers who were also present, recalled the figure of the singer of Gan Putih as a very influential figure in the national music scene.

Raffi Ahmad admitted that he had special memories with the late Glenn Fredly, even before he became a very famous artist.

"I myself have memories of the deceased. At the age of 15 or 16 years, I was once a model for Bung Glenn' video clip," said Raffi in his remarks at the opening of KMI 2025.

"Bung Glenn Fredly is an extraordinary figure. He always said music is the voice of the people's hearts, and today he feels that one of the things we have to fight for is to continue what Bung Glenn has been fighting for," he continued.

In line with Raffi, Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha also recalled the warmth and support that Glenn Fredly had always given to fellow musicians.

"I think, in heaven, Bung Glenn missed Bung Glenn's friends here. And I'm glad we got together here to continue these ideals and struggles," said Giring.

What I remember is that he was always warm when he met him. He did that to everyone. We were still junior at that time and he always supported," he added.

Meanwhile, KMI 2025 has the big theme One Basic Nada. This conference will also be attended by representatives from several Ministries and State Institutions, such as the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Law, Ministry of Creative Economy, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Manpower, to the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs.

By involving various parties, KMI 2025 is expected to be able to strengthen Indonesia's position as one of the centers for music development in regional and global areas.

Apart from KMI, this event will also be accompanied by the Jakarta Music Con which will be held at Senayan Park, Central Jakarta on October 11 and 12, 2025. This agenda will also present all Indonesian music ecosystem players, coupled with the presence of other parties who are closely related to the music world.
