JAKARTA - The Ministry of Culture officially opened the 2025 Indonesian Music Conference (KMI) as a forum for meeting music ecosystem players at The Sultan Hotel & Residence, Central Jakarta today, Wednesday, October 8.
The KMI 2025, which is held with the theme 'One Basic Nada', will last until Friday, October 10, where musicians, music industry players, the government, and the community are involved to jointly determine the future of Indonesian music.
Minister of Culture (Menbud) Fadli Zon in his opening speech at KMI 2025 said this event was a continuation of the previous music conference, which was initiated by Glenn Fredly.
He said the enthusiasm to advance music as a cultural product was the main goal of this conference.
"This conference is a continuation of the long journey from Ambon in 2018, Bandung 2019, and now in Jakarta," said Fadli Zon.
"With the big theme 'One Basic Nada', through this spirit, we gather together to make the music ecosystem a valuable engine of growth and contribute to the economy, culture, and diplomacy," he added.

Various challenges faced by the ecosystem will also be discussed. With the spirit of unity being promoted, KMI 2025 is expected to provide answers that can then be applied.
Furthermore, to realize the mandate of the 1945 Constitution Article 32 paragraph 1 which states that, "The state advances Indonesia's national culture in the midst of world civilization by guaranteeing people's freedom in maintaining and developing cultural values," Fadli said that music can be a reliable backbone.
Music is also not just industry, but cultural diplomacy that is able to put Indonesia on par with other nations. The music ecosystem is one of the main backbones of the economic dimension and the cultural industry," said Fadli.
"In the future, I think we will be more familiar with the term cultural economy or cultural industry," he added. Because this is an industry that will develop sustainable human resources. And this will become a binding and increasingly necessary part in the current world (conditions).
