JAKARTA - Addie MS's music conductor and producer chose to refrain when talking about issues regarding music copyright in Indonesia, especially the chaos about royalties, which have been busy talking about for the past three years.

Addie respects every musician with his own opinion. However, he admitted that he was sad when the problem with royalties became a feud between songwriters and performers.

"The feud between creators and performers is between creators and performers. Sad for me. My friends have become enemies," said Addie in Kuningan, South Jakarta recently.

"But I respect it. Each of them has a reason to clean it up," he added. That's good. Yes, hopefully, I can get excited again. That's why I've always talked about royalties, I resigned.

Furthermore, Addie said that the issue of royalties from the national anthem Indonesia Raya, which first emerged because the statement of one of the LMKN commissioners made him quite surprised and disappointed.

The song created by WR Supratman, which has often been played, is a work re-recorded by Addie MS with a calm version. In other words, the husband of singer Memes is one of the producers of the master recording of the song Indonesia Raya.

"By that time the government had been paid, so there were no royalties. It has become a public domain," said Addie.

"Well, the 'Indonesia Raya' footage that is circulating and is now being used everywhere, the producers include me. So if you want to count, I'm very rich now," he continued.

"It's just that from the start I made the recording, that's not the goal (to find money). So I don't accept any royalties," concluded Addie.
