JAKARTA - The 2025 Indonesian Music Conference (KMI) was present as a continuation of the long journey of the Indonesian music ecosystem which began to be mapped since the Indonesian Music Conference in Ambon in 2018 and in Bandung a year later.

The event, which will bring together all players in the Indonesian music ecosystem, will be held at the Sultan Hotel, Central Jakarta on October 8-10.

As is known, at the KMI in Ambon initiated by Glenn Fredly, music for the first time was officially voiced as an important part of the nation's development.

From there, 12 national action plans were born that touched all aspects of the music ecosystem: a music data collection, literacy and education system, copyright and musician welfare, infrastructure development, strengthening journalism and archives, to issues of gender equality and ethnic music protection.

According to Deputy Minister of Culture (Wamenbud) Giring Ganesha, this year's KMI cannot be separated from continuing the spirit that the late Glenn Fredly had fought for.

"We have arrested the Spirit and we continue to spread the fire of enthusiasm. This is the first time, under the leadership of President Prabowo, the music ecosystem can really sit together with regulators," Giring said at a press conference in Senayan, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, September 24.

Giring also stated that KMI would be attended by several Ministries and State Institutions, including the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Law, the Ministry of Creative Economy, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Manpower, and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs.

With the big theme "One Basic Nada", KMI is expected to strengthen Indonesia's position as the center of music development in regional and global areas.

"So, hopefully later at KMI, we will get together, we will be united, and God willing, Indonesia in the future can really become the epicenter for music growth. Like Bung Glenn's dream, Indonesia can also become a world music city," said Deputy Minister of Culture Giring.

KMI will also be accompanied by the Jakarta Music Con event which will be held at Senayan Park, Central Jakarta on October 11 and 12.

This event will also present all players in the Indonesian music ecosystem, coupled with the presence of parties who have been collaborating with the music world.
