Laufey: Don't Graduate From Berklee, It's Not Cool

JAKARTA - Laufey L! Bing J waysdroom, better known as the mononym Laufey, expressed his view as a musician who graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA.

While appearing on John Kennedy's recent Tape Notes Podcast, Laufey comes as a guest with Spencer Stewart, his partner working on music that also graduated from Berklee.

Laufey and Stewart both agree that those who graduate from Berklee are not considered cool people.

"Don't graduate from Berklee. That's not cool," Laufey said.

"Yes, that's not cool," Stewart said.

The Iceland-Chinese jazz singer said those included in the cool musician were the ones who entered the Berklee and then his music career skyrocketed.

"That's right. If you pass, it means you don't succeed," Laufey said.

"Did I learn a lot there? I don't know. But I was exposed a lot with a lot of things there," Stewart added.

Laufey continued, he had a different way of thinking when he entered Berklee. He felt there was no need to follow very strict rules.

"It really taught me to be not only the best music player, but also the creator of the music," he said.

"I came to Berklee as a music player, and I came out of there with more than anything to become a creator," Laufey concluded.

For information, Laufey graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2021. While Spencer Stewart graduated in 2013.
