Resigning From The Party Because Of Sponsorship Problems, The Panturas Is Criticized By Warganet

JAKARTA - The Panturas' decision to withdraw from Pestipora and his criticism of PT Freeport Indonesia as a sponsor has become a controversy among netizens. The reason is, the band from Jatinangor was involved in the Intermediary Fest last May, which was also sponsored by the leading mining company.

As is known, The Panturas became one of many performers who decided to cancel appearing at the Partypora last week, after finding out that Freeport was one of the sponsors.

Through a statement delivered through the official Instagram account, The Panturas even criticized the organizers quite strongly.

"Even though we all (or at least most of the line-up lineups including initiators of events) come from the edge current region which brings the spirit of independence, alternatives, and resistance to cultural homogenization," wrote The Panturas, citing a statement on the upload, Thursday, September 11.

"With the existence of PT Freeport in this event, for some reason it makes us (some other musicians feel foreign). The edge current where we came from and grew, now we suddenly don't know it," he added. By being involved in the Partypora suddenly we didn't know where it came from, where we were going and what value we brought. Sad too in just one night we were confused and questioned what we loved so far: playing music.

The Panturas even said that the organizers of the Partypora had 'trapped' the performers with Freeport's presence as sponsors.

"We may still play with foreign and uncomfortable feelings today because there is an agreement with other parties outside of the Partypora that we cannot deny. While we hope, hopefully the organizers will not continue to deny trapping musicians in difficult positions. Because what is bad about it? Putting musicians in situations that have no bargaining value, so that suddenly the principle is exchanged for dirt, "he said.

However, behind the statement that looked dashing, netizens highlighted The Panturas' decision to continue appearing in the Antara Fest which was held at Kridosono Field, Yogyakarta.

"Yaaaahh jadi backfire kaann wkwkwwk," kata warganet lain.

Some of them actually saw The Panturas only participating in groups and other musicians who also canceled their appearance at the Partypora.

"The point is that it's just a photocopy... because in @perantara.fest continues to perform even though the sponsor is free-poddd too," wrote the netizen.
