JAKARTA - In the midst of talks about a possible new album System Of A Down, the vocalist, Serj Tankian, announced details for his upcoming solo album.
Tankian has prepared an album with the title "Covers, Collaborations & Collages", which will officially be released on October 24.
Like the album title, Tankian presents ten tracks, consisting of never-released cover songs, collaborations, and other songs.
"Similar to (my EP in 2024) 'Foundations', these are pre-existing archive recordings, some of which are from the past," Tankian said, citing NME.
"I want to release a collaboration album that I have never released before, along with cover songs that I have never made before," he continued. The rest, collage, are parts that match the puzzles in the same tone and feel."
Meanwhile, the cover song shown is Im Counting on You from Chris de Burgh and When Death Arrives from Ruben Hakhverdyan.
Then, the collaboration presented includes A Seed with Deadmau5, Things Unspoken with Bic Runga, and Apocalyptic Dance with Lucas Vidal.

Ahead of the full release of the album, Tankian will release a new song every week, along with a video that tells the story behind the song. So far, he has released the single 'Electric Dreams', which is the first track for a new album.
Previously, System Of A Down drummer John Dolmayan talked about ways to get the band to work on a new album.
"I told Daron (Malayan - guitar) a secret recipe to complete the album... Bring your last songs," said Dolmayan while appearing on the But That 1% With Sona Oganesyan podcast.
Usually, said the drummer, when System Of A Down starts recording, Daron will submit the songs he wrote to other personnel.
'Daron will bring the songs, because he has a lot of songs. The songs have been carefully thought of and are the most complete," said the 53-year-old drummer.
"I once gave him this advice, I said, 'Why don't you just say to Serj (The main vocals). Bring your songs first. We will discuss all your worries. Then Shavo (Odadjian 'bassis), bring all your clothes. Then Daron, bring your last fire.'"
For Dolmayan, this method shows that Malaman cares more about Tankian songs, and asks the vocalist to bring the song first.
Meanwhile, Malakian and Tankian are known to have creative conflicts, even though they are still friends outside. They still appear on the same stage together and respect each other's contributions.
This is believed to be the reason System Of A Down did not release a new album for two decades despite appearing together several times.
