Morgan Wallen Doesn't Want to Submit His Massively Successful Album to "Compete" at the Grammy Awards

JAKARTA - US country music star Morgan Wallen will reportedly not be participating in the 68th Grammy Awards, which are currently accepting entries for competition in February next year.

Wallen's move follows a similar decision made by fellow country artist Zach Bryan last year.

According to a Billboard report, Morgan Wallen's team has confirmed that he will not be submitting the artist for any individual categories. Furthermore, his chart-topping album "I'm The Problem" will also not be submitted.

While the exact reason was not disclosed, Wallen's decision is believed to align with that of Zach Bryan, who reportedly felt uncomfortable with awards shows that make music competitive.

This decision was made despite the commercial success of both artists. However, Wallen and his team do not want to hinder other artists from submitting their work to the Grammys.

Wallen himself has spent 40 weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 throughout his career—a feat only achieved by Wallen and eight other artists in the chart's 70-year history.

Eight other artists have won multiple Grammys, but sadly not the 32-year-old country musician. Among the 19 artists with 30 or more weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, only Wallen and The Monkees have yet to win a Grammy.

Wallen's only Grammy nomination came for his collaboration on Post Malone's album "F1 Trillion." Their duet on "I Had Some Help" earned nominations for country duo/group performance and country song last February.

Furthermore, Wallen has never received a nomination for his solo work, although his 2021 album, "Dangerous: The Double Album," ranked as Billboard's best album of the first 25 years of the 21st century.
