Babymetal Sets New Record On Chart Billboard 200

JAKARTA - The Japanese metal unit, Babymetal, made a new history by becoming the first Japanese band to penetrate the ranks of the Top 10 chart of the prestigious Billboard 200 album in the United States.

Their latest album, Metal Forth, which was released on August 8, made a brilliant debut by occupying the 9th position of the chart. This achievement made the album the release of Babymetal with the highest position in the US, breaking the previous record held by the Metal Galaxy album (2019) which was perched in 13th place.

In its first week, Metal Forth managed to sell the equivalent of 36,000 units in the US market. The album has also been played more than 200 million times streaming from around the world since its release.

Metal Forth features a number of collaborations with well-known heavy musicians such as Slaughter to Prevail, Polyphia, Spiritbox, Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine), Electric Callboy, Poppy, Bloodywood, as well as former keyboardist and producer Bring Me the Horizon, Jordan Fish.

On the Billboard Billboard 200 Top 10 chart this week, Babymetal is accompanied by big names such as Morgan Wallen, Kpop soundtrack Demon Hunters, Gunna, Machine Gun Kelly (MGK), Alex Warren, Jonas Brothers, Justin Bieber, and SZA. Their existence makes Babymetal the only artist with rock and metal in the top 10, in addition to MGK whose latest album, Lost Americana, was also released on August 8.

"Our journey continues and we can't wait to meet you guys at Babymetal shows in your city and country," they said.

Babymetal just finished their North American tour at the end of last July. For 2025, they have scheduled a series of tours with one show in the US, namely on November 1 in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, two other shows have been scheduled for 2026.
