JAKARTA - US pop star Katy Perry reportedly had to pay a fine of up to thousands of euros as a result of filming a music video for 'Lifetimes' that was not licensed in Spain.

Meanwhile, the music video "Lifetimes" features Perry enjoying the moment at Ses Salines National Park, Balearik Islands, which was shot in July 2024.

Previously, Perry had received strong criticism from environmental activists who realized that filming was carried out in a protected area, namely the S'Espalmador dune.

Access to the protected area is prohibited, to protect sensitive habitats and wildlife. Perry and his team were also investigated for potential environmental damage caused during filming which was called unlicensed.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment of the Balearik Islands has stated that the production company behind the music video "Lifetimes" failed to obtain permission from the Regional Ministry to record.

Then the Capitol spokesman, Perry's record label, responded by saying they had collaborated with local companies to take care of all permits.

"The local video production company assured us that all necessary permits for the video have been obtained. We later learned that one permit is in progress, although we have been given verbal authority to proceed," the Capitol said, quoted by NME, Wednesday, August 13.

Local crews have also applied for permission for the special location to the Directorate General of Coastal and Coastal Lines on July 22 last year.

"Kru kami menerima persetujuan oral pada 26 Juli untuk melanjutkan pencataman pada 27 Juli, lanjutnya. Kami mematuhi semua peraturan yang terkait dengan pencataman di area ini dan sangat menghormati lokasi ini dan para pejabat yang bertugas melindunginya."

Currently, Majorca Daily Bulletin reports that Perry has been fined 6,001 euros, equivalent to Rp113.8 million, and everything has been paid.

It was stated that the fine was issued because the violation was "serious", however, there would be no additional punishment because there was no evidence of permanent damage to the area.
