4 Times Entangled In Drug Cases, Fariz RM Affirms Will Not Stop Music

JAKARTA - Legendary musician Fariz RM is currently undergoing legal proceedings related to the narcotics case that ensnared him.

In a trial held at the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday, July 10, Fariz RM's attorney, Deolipa Yumara, revealed that his client did intend to undergo rehabilitation for total recovery.

"Oh, he (Fariz RM) just wants rehabilitation, right, he hasn't recovered. If someone doesn't recover, he wants it to be cured," said Deolipa Yumara to the media crew.

Despite battling dependence, Fariz RM is said to have never intended to leave the world of music that has made his name. Responding to reports that his client wanted to quit the world of music, Deolipa vehemently denied this.

"Oh no (I want to stop making music), he's still a musician, how can it stop musicians. That's what you're talking about, just be aware," he said.

According to Deolipa, Fariz RM's love of music will never go out. He believes that after going through the comprehensive rehabilitation process and achieving full awareness, Fariz will return to work better.

"Yes, the proof is still using it, right, later when he is very aware he will have a better career," concluded Deolipa.

Previously, Fariz RM was charged with being with Andres Deni Kristyawan distributing methamphetamine and marijuana. This is Fariz's fourth time dealing with drugs again.

For his actions, Fariz was charged with violating Article 114 paragraph (1) or Article 112 paragraph (1) and Article 111 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.

Article 114 of the Narcotics Law itself reads,

"Everyone who without rights or against the law offers to sell, sell, buy, accept, become an intermediary in buying and selling, exchanging, or handing over Narcotics Category I, shall be sentenced to life imprisonment or imprisonment for a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 20 years.

The defendant could also be subject to fines ranging from IDR 1 billion to a maximum of IDR 10 billion.
