Mount Indonesia Jazz Consistently Supports Tourism Development Through Music

JAKARTA - The Mount Indonesia Jazz again presented the Mount Series Jazz as a series of music performances that fully support the country's tourism industry.

This year, Mount Jazz comes in three series, the first and second series will be held in Bromo on July 19 and 26, while the third series will be held at Ijen on August 9.

Sigit Purnomo as the Founder of Mount Jazz said that the event he initiated with Djaduk Ferianto and Butet Kartaredjasa had developed into BRI Jazz Gunung Series, where the original idea was born from a discussion with Andy F. Noya. This format is considered more commercially beneficial, both for sponsors and the government, because it is able to create a more equitable economic impact.

Sigit also gave a concrete example of the event on Bromo which has been going on for 17 years with the economic benefits felt by the surrounding community, such as lodging managers, vendors and horses, to small stalls.

"If there are 2000 spectators, then 1000 rooms are needed. We only have 80, the rest are spread around Bromo, Pasuruan, Probolinggo, to Malang," Sigit said at a press conference in Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Thursday, July 3.

For the Mount Bromo Jazz which will be held in the near future, the organizers try to expand the socio-economic impact through the festival which is extended to two days with a break for a week, equipped with exhibitions of MSMEs, arts, and culture. This activity is supported by ISI Yogyakarta and is expected to be able to provide wider economic benefits to the local community.

What has been done by Mount Indonesia Jazz, said Andy F. Noya as Advisor, makes it a unique event. Jazz that enters Indonesia as exclusive music, is able to be transformed into an art that is closer to the community.

"There is one unique thing about Mount Jazz, apart from its venue at its height, but we can see that so far Jazz music is considered too exclusive, then the segmentation is very narrow, so many people feel that they are not part of this jazz activity," said Andy. Even though jazz as music is universal in nature... jazz is actually open, inclusive, equality, diversity. This is well demonstrated in Mount Jazz."

With what has been done at the Mount Jazz, Vinsensius Jemadu as Deputy for Tourism Products and Activities Organizers from the Ministry of Tourism conveyed his promise to support BRI Jazz Gunung Series.

"Even later for the Mount Series 3 Ijen Jazz on August 9, 2025, I have spoken to the organizers, where later we can collaborate," said Vinsen.

He said, there are three support schemes from the Ministry of Tourism, including promotional amplification; support for responsibilities, ranging from stages, lighting, to performers; as well as support and prayers so that this event runs smoothly and successfully.

"Moreover, this event is held on the mountain, don't let anyone get cold and others. So, we hope this goes well, smoothly, and successfully," concluded Vinsen.

For information, for the first series, the line-up from within the country that will appear is Emptyy, Jamie Aditya, Kua Etnika, RAN, and Karimata. In addition, Chagall, a female musician from the Netherlands who carries electronic music.

As for the second series, domestic line-ups that will appear are Monita Tahalea, Tohpati Ethnomission, Bintang Indrianto, Lorjhu, Natasya Elvira, and Sal Priadi. In addition, there are also musicians from France, Rogue.

Apart from Bromo, the 2025 Mount Series Jazz, which was held at the Inspector General, was held at the Taman Gandrung Terakota Amphitheater, Banyuwangi. A series of performers will be announced in the near future.

The ticket prices for the 2025 Mount Series Jazz on Bromo range from Rp300,000 to Rp6,000,000, and can be purchased through the Secretariat.
