Calls For Environmental Rescue From SBY Tertuang In The Song Save Our World

JAKARTA - Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) again expressed his art, this time through a musical work, he called for concrete actions to save the environment through the song Save Our World.

The sixth president of the Republic of Indonesia showed his concern for the earth which is now facing serious threats due to the climate crisis.

"I really care more, more and more seriously, and want to take concrete steps about saving our earth, about climate, environment," SBY quoted ANTARA as saying on July 1.

SBY has expressed his involvement in various international initiatives related to climate change since serving as president.

He called Indonesia's involvement in the Climate Change Conference (COP) 13 in Bali in 2007 an important momentum.

"Almost failed the meeting, but I was with my close friend Ban Ki Moon together to save and give birth to Bali Roadmap," he said.

He also shared that the spirit of environmental rescue led him to write the song "For Earth Kita" in 2010 after attending the Climate and Forestry Conference in Oslo, Norway.

"In the morning before leaving for Jakarta, I was accompanied by the late Mrs. Ani playing guitar and creating this song," he recalled.

The English version of the song, "Save Our World", was then produced with US musicians.

In 2025, this song is rearranged and performed by 35 musicians across generations.

He emphasized that environmental issues are not just matters of the relevant ministries or experts.

SBY million appealed to all elements of the nation not to remain silent in responding to environmental problems.

All leaders, including in Indonesia, have responsibilities and moral obligations. Say something and do something. Everyone has a responsibility," he said.

It is known, the song "Save Our World" initiated by SBY through The Yudhoyono Institute (TYI) has been re-ranned by musician Tohpati and is done cinematically by Doss Guava XR Studio.

This latest version involves 35 cross-generational singers and genres including legendary musicians such as (Almarhumah) Titiek Puspa, Erie Djohan, Titiek Sandhora, to popular musicians such as Yuni Shara, Andy/rif, and Sandhy Sondoro also voiced concern for our earth.

For the first time, four rap musicians Saykoji, Toton Caribo, Ayuenstar, and PB Glas collaborated in one part of this song, thus adding color and new enthusiasm in delivering messages.
