JAKARTA - Keenan Nasution's decision to sue Vidi Aldiano for using the song Nuansa Bening received various responses from cyberspace. Moreover, the value he submitted was not small, namely Rp. 24.5 billion.

Accompanied by Minola Sebayang as a lawyer, Keenan again questioned the issue of royalties for the song Nuansa Bening which he said was unclear. In a statement, he admitted that since 2008 there has been no certainty about the royalties he deserves for the song.

Keenan revealed that Harry Kiss had asked permission to use the song to be sung by Vidi Aldiano. When the song was successful and performed on hundreds of stages, he claimed that he could not get a commensurate reward.

The claim of Rp. 24.5 billion has also succeeded in making an uproar in cyberspace. Not a few have criticized and protested with the nominal amount.

In the video uploaded to Instagram, Minola Sebayang explains the reasons behind the fantastic figure. Similar to Agnez Mo's case in the Commercial Court, the Rp24.5 billion lawsuit in question is not a royalty payment, but a fine that must be paid by the defendant.

"Reading comments stating that there has been another lawsuit against the singer with numbers that don't make sense, I really read this sad. What kind of numbers doesn't make sense?" he asked in the video uploaded on June 3 on the @minola6000 account.

"Because all the figures have calculations and that is passed on to the laws, namely the copyright law that applies in Indonesia. So it is not a number that arises from birth, not a number that matches our tastes," said Minola.

He attacked public opinion by condemning the use of copyright commercially without permission or proper appreciation.

"In fact, what doesn't make sense is when there are people who use other people's creations commercially without permission. Meanwhile, the legislation says they must first ask their creators for permission if they want to use copyright works commercially. That is regulated in the 2002 copyright law before being updated in 2014," he explained.

According to Minola, the figure of Rp. 24.5 has also been discussed proportionally. Of the hundreds of times the song was performed, he questioned 31 shows which were the factors for determining the nominal value of the lawsuit.

"Because all the advice we provide is passed on to the rule of law. There is a traffic jam, and it has been tested at the commercial court level," concluded Minola Sebayang.
