JAKARTA - The National Consumer Protection Agency (BPKN) is committed to fighting for consumer rights related to the DAY6 concert event, a South Korean group that took place in Jakarta on May 3.
"Institutionally, we are taking steps to summon clarifications to promoters or organizers to ensure that consumer rights are delivered properly," said Chairman of BPKN RI Muhammad Mufti Mubarok as quoted by ANTARA on Monday, May 26.
According to him, BPKN will oversee the fulfillment of consumer rights affected by chaos in holding the DAY6 concert in Jakarta.
He reminded that consumers according to article 19 in Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection have the right to demand refunds or compensation if the concert organizer violates his promise.
"If the concert is canceled, postponed unilaterally, or the quality of service is not in accordance with what is promised, consumers have the right to demand refunds or compensation," he said.
Mufti explained that consumers can submit requests for refunds for concert ticket purchases in writing to show organizers and providers of ticket sales platforms by attaching proof of ticket purchase documents.

"If there is no response within a reasonable period of time, consumers can report to BPKN RI," he said.
"We urge the public not to remain silent, if there is a loss report and collect evidence. BPKN is ready to facilitate mediation and encourage law enforcement," he added.
Mufti said that BPKN is trying to encourage the issuance of regulations regarding the technicality of holding concerts to support the governance of a healthy entertainment industry and respect consumer rights.
"Consumers are not passive objects, but an active part of the economic ecosystem whose rights must be respected," he said.
