JAKARTA - Behind the feud between KOTAK and its former personnel Posan Tobing, Icez, and Julie Angel, there have been legal cases that have been running since a few months ago. The case has even entered the advanced stage, in which Posan cs' appeal as the plaintiff against Cella KOTAK as defendant has been rejected by the Yogyakarta High Court.

Meanwhile, the first lawsuit was filed by three former KOTAK personnel to the Sleman District Court on November 14, 2024 with case number 265 / Pdt.G / 2024 / PN Smn.

The lawsuit concerns Cella, who was sued in a civil manner for default on the registration of KOTAK's name in 2022.

The first instance court was ruled out on March 13, where it was stated that the Sleman District Court was not authorized to examine a lawsuit filed by Posan Tobing, Icez, and Julie Angel against Cella regarding the establishment and right to the name of the KOTAK band.

Based on a press release received by VOI, an appeal has been made, then the Yogyakarta High Court officially rejected it today, Thursday, July 15, which strengthened the previous decision.

Satisfied with the decision, Cella stated that the name KOTAK that she continues to use until now is something that is so valuable, where she also has a contribution.

This name is not just me taking it. I co-founded it, raised it, and supported it. BOTAK is not just a band. This is home to our idealism and stage energy," said Cella.

Meanwhile, Tantri and Chua felt that the decision of the Yogyakarta High Court to describe KOTAK's recent efforts had yielded good results, which they chose not to bring problems to the public realm which could have an unfavorable impact on fans.

However, the legal problem between KOTAK and former personnel can be seen with one note, which is important to see the legality in band formation, including the listing of rights to the name and role of individual members.

For KOTAK, this event can also be a momentum for legal education for young musicians to understand the importance of contracts and legal structures from the start of their careers.
