JAKARTA The main vocalist of the legendary Kansas rock band, lost his recovery period after undergoing thyroid removal surgery due to thyroid cancer.

Through a post on his personal Facebook account on Sunday, March 9, Platt, who is now 63 years old, reported that his operation was successful and he had returned home for a postoperative recovery process.

"The doctor said my surgery couldn't have gone any better," Platt wrote.

"I feel the strength of prayer and positive energy from everyone," he said.

The former Shooting Star vocalist hopes that his recovery period will run smoothly so that he can immediately return to appear on stage and greet his fans.

"My real job is to entertain all of you and help you at least for a few hours to forget about your problems and recharge your energy," he said. "I'm very proud of that."

Platt first revealed a diagnosis of thyroid cancer about three weeks ago. In his statement, he explained that surgery was the best step so he could immediately return to work with Kansas.

"This cancer has a 99 percent survival rate and has not spread. The cancer only attacks my thyroid. I just need to lift my thyroid, undergo rehabilitation, and return to my normal activities," he explained.

He also remains optimistic about his condition and believes he can recover soon. "As has been said to me, this is just a small obstacle and will soon pass!"
