JAKARTA - Basically, a musician is those who are on stage to present musical works. Therefore, the experience of appearing live is very crucial.

This became Ryan Kampua's basis when initiating Start With A Gig (SWAG), a weekly event in the Blok M area, South Jakarta aimed at musicians, especially those who are pioneering their works.

Today, the digital world is like a 'god', which has become the benchmark for many musicians to measure the level of success. With promotions on social media and digital platforms, great hopes arise so that their work goes viral and gets high streams.

However, according to Ryan, the assessment of a musician and his work must be seen when appearing on stage and dealing directly with listeners.

"Digitals provide the advantages that exist today, they have tools to promote the song, to introduce themselves, so they know how wide the song is, how many people listen to the song," Ryan said when met between SWAG events, Tuesday, February 25.

"But actually the most crucial thing about every musician is how they can convey the message directly in front of music lovers. Does their work really have the right correlation or not, whether it's good or not, listeners like it or not. It can be seen directly live," he continued.

SWAG not only features musicians on stage, this event also involves the active role of music journalists, media, artist manager associations, music labels, and music promoters.

According to Ryan, the gathering of many parties is important for the music ecosystem. Communication that continues to exist can produce good novelty for the continuation of this industry.

We have to communicate frequently. When we are in the same gig moment, the same event, there we can communicate, exchange information about music. Therefore, I invite many music stakeholders, such as the Indonesian Artist Managers Association, the Music Journalists Association, talent scout events, and there are also promoters," Ryan said.

And I hope this continues and can be a filling point for them, so that the relay in music always exists, and regeneration always exists. It's not just those names that exist in every music festival, but we have musicians and bands that have potential for the future," he concluded.
