Melly Goeslaw Participates In Appreciation For Sukatani's Works

JAKARTA - Singers who are also members of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Melly Goeslaw, through Instagram uploads, also voiced their voices over what happened to the punk band from Purbalingga, Sukatani.

As is known, two Sukatani personnel Novi Citra Indriyati alias Twister Angel (vocals) and Muhammad Syifa Al Lutfi alias Alectroguy (guitar) are in the spotlight because the song entitled Pay Payment went viral on social media.

Personally, Melly felt that there should be a wise confinement of Sukatani's musical works which contained protests to state agencies.

"This is certainly different from what was done by the SukATANI band. Sukatani's lyrics are a reflection of the protests aimed at a state agency. So I think it should be handled wisely," Melly wrote, citing a statement on the upload, Tuesday, February 25.

Melly admitted that she did not know Sukatani's work before. However, the public spotlight made him finally hear 'Pay Pay'.

"The agency related to the song has provided clarification, and invited the song to circulate," said Melly.

Criticism through the lyrics of the song, hopefully, will be a constructive criticism and a better change in the future. Positively, so more and more people know this song, so that the lyrics written to criticize the song become more echoed and heard throughout society," he continued.

Furthermore, Melly encouraged freedom of expression, but continued to provide notes on compliance with the law.

"Let's all continue to support freedom of expression while still not neglecting things that have been regulated in the Copyright Law article 50 and the ITE Law articles 27 and 28," he said.

"A smart artist must know how to insert a message in his work beautifully but still to its point. Sukatani packaged her work quite beautifully, although at first it caused less beautiful communication between Sukatani and the institution. Thankfully it has been handled," he continued.

"Hopefully all of these things can be a lesson for all of us, the mother of teacher Novi can serve again as a teacher at the school again or at another school. Indonesia really needs teaching staff, surely Mrs. Novi will receive a lot. I appreciate your works, thank you and continue to work."
