JAKARTA - The Shakira concert in Mede totaling, Colombia, scheduled for Monday (February 24) has been postponed.
The event organizers said there were concerns about the safety of the show at Estadio Atanasio Girardot, after the roof of the stage installed by local production was damaged.
Launching Billboard, he shared the news with his fans in a note on social media.
"My people from Mede Total! It hurts me not to be able to get on stage and sing for you the way I want you," he wrote, quoted by VOI from the X account @shakira, Sunday, February 23.
"My children are very happy to get to know Mede Total, and I am very happy to be able to meet you again and share all the surprises I have prepared for them. I apologize for the inconvenience, especially for those who have traveled. This is beyond my control and my production team, but I'm sure we will soon find a new date to celebrate together," said Shakira.
"Always grateful for the unconditional support you have given me. I love you so much and I hope to meet you soon," he added.
Concert promoter Pryptamo Presenta said that Shakira's performance would be rescheduled.
"Together with the Shakira team, we are working on a new concert for Colombia in the second half of this year, a news story that will be celebrated by more than one city in the country," reads a statement on X.

Pryptamo Presenta explained why the decision to cancel Monday's concert had been made, stating that there was a risk to the safety of the cast, crew and spectators.
"During the performance assembly process scheduled for February 24, the roof of the stage installed by local production suffered damage that endangered the safety of the artist, staff, and most importantly, the safety of the audience," said Pryptamo Presenta.
"Promotors and artist teams are working together and look forward to rescheduling the date in the future. We understand that this decision may be disturbing to the public who have been waiting for the show, but the most important thing is the safety of everyone."
