Ahmad Dhani Ensures That ACTIONs Participate In The Revision Of The Copyright Law

The All-Indonesian Composite Association (AKSI) also welcomed the agenda for the revision of the Copyright Law (UUHC) which is included in the 2025 Priority National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) at the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI).

Ahmad Dhani as a member of the House of Representatives from Commission X who is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of ACTION stated that his party would oversee the UUHC revision so as not to cause a double interpretation.

"Now that the initiation for the revision of the Copyright Law has been carried out, the initiator is Melly Goeslaw, later we will oversee it together," Dhani said at a press conference in Fatmawati, South Jakarta, Monday, February 17.

"Later we will correct it, so that the sentence in the law does not have multiple interpretations and cause polemics in the future," continued the Dewa 19 frontman.

Dhani said there are current regulations that make Creators not justified in prohibiting their creation from being performed in performances. This is a point that is clarified in the UUHC revision.

"There is a sentence, I don't know in the Law or Ministerial Decree, the sound is that the creator of the song is prohibited. For example, the cafe band wants to use my song, I can't prohibit it. Maybe the purpose of the law is like that, so I can't prohibit all hotels and cafes from playing my songs, "said Dhani.

"Maybe later in the law it can be confirmed that the ban can be imposed for professional performance. Copyright is attached to the creator, so it's okay to ban, as long as it's done for commercial purposes. Well, there may be a lot of singers who don't understand," he continued.

If there are singers who insist that it's important to sing, pay, now that's the thief's behavior.
