JAKARTA - Absorbing inspiration from various types of music, Samuel Vouga introduced his project to the monoker of the vouga. He is a singer, songwriter, and Swiss producer who spent most of his life changing countries.

The first single of the vouga titled Drifting Away has been released with synth-pop/rock nuances and a touch of modern French-style electronic music. Not surprisingly, this diversity came from his admiration for the iconic musician, Prince.

"Now I'm just creating a song I want to hear, and it turns out it involves a lot of synth. My love for synth comes from listening to Prince's many songs," said the voice in a written broadcast, February 9.

"Of course, I was also influenced by what was happening around me and, therefore, I like dance and electronic music which also has a big impact on the music I created."

The process of writing the song 'Drifting Away' begins at the end of 2020, when the pandemic hits globally. the voice explains that this song was created naturally and spontaneously, without worrying about the final result. Thus, the music arrangement can really reflect what was in him at that time.

Meanwhile, in the context of lyrics, this song contains a metaphor to describe feelings of helplessness and without the purpose he has experienced.
