According to a Chinese media report, The Paper, Shanghai tourism officials have entered the talks stage to bring in the pop star from the United States. In fact, they are optimistic about the progress.
Meanwhile, cities in China are said to be trying to attract world stars to hold shows there, in order to improve the economy.
Zhang Qi, deputy director of Shanghai's cultural and tourism bureau, has even said that local officials have hosted Swift's team for initial discussions.
"Regarding whether the concert could last in the end, we feel that it will depend on the Shanghai city market and attraction," said Zhang Qi.
"However, we are optimistic that the concert may be realized this year," he added.
