Royalty Paying Discipline Must Be The Main Priority Of K-pop Concert Promoters In Indonesia

JAKARTA - PT Idea Music Entertainment or iMe Indonesia as one of the music promoters who often brings K-pop artists to Indonesia, sees that discipline in royalty payments is essential for the performance industry.

Tama as the Project Manager of iMe Indonesia said that his party always ensures that the promoter's obligations are a top priority, especially regarding royalty payments.

"As a promoter who often presents international musicians' concerts, especially K-pop artists, royalty payments are one of the top priorities in every event," Tama said, through a written message to VOI, Monday, January 13.

"We always ensure that all obligations, including royalty payments, are completed in accordance with applicable regulations," he continued.

The music promoter who held the BLACKPINK concert in Jakarta in 2023 believes that the discipline in paying royalties is an effort to support a healthy and sustainable music ecosystem.

"We believe that discipline in royalty payments is an important factor to support the sustainability of the music industry in Indonesia. By ensuring that the rights of songwriters, musicians, and all relevant parties are respected, we will also have a healthy and sustainable ecosystem impact," Tama said.

Furthermore, Tama stated iMe Indonesia's commitment to continue working with the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN) and the Collective Management Institute (LMK).

"In the future, we are committed to continuing to cooperate with LMKN and LMK in ensuring that all royalty rights are distributed fairly and on time. We also hope to continue to present quality international music concerts in Indonesia, and make Indonesia one of the targets of the international industry market," he said.

Meanwhile, iMe Indonesia is one of the music promoters included in the Top 10 list, which LMKN submitted in the Royalty Collection Report for the Live Event Category last December.

In the list, there are several music promoters who are known to often bring K-pop artists to the country, such as iMe Indonesia, CK Star, and Dyandra.

"This is a motivation for us to continue to support and advance the Indonesian entertainment industry, especially in terms of transparent and timely royalty payments," Tama concluded.
