Sad News, Pop Batak Music Legend, Jack Marpaung Dies

Grief enveloped the Indonesian music scene, earlier this year. The legendary Batak pop singer, Jack Marpaung, reportedly died at the age of 76 on Sunday, January 5 yesterday.

The news was also confirmed by his son-in-law, Alex Rudiart Hutajulu. The husband of Novita Dewi Marpaung confirmed that Jack had breathed his last yesterday.

"Yes (Jack Marpaung has passed away), yesterday at 18.30 (WIB) at Carolus Salemba Hospital," said Alex, via text message to the media crew, Monday, January 6.

The singer who graduated from the X Factor event explained that the health condition of his father-in-law in recent times was not good enough.

"In the last two years, initially he had symptoms of a stroke, the condition has continued to decline here and there," said Alex.

"But critically in the past week, he has been taken to the hospital," he added.

Currently, the body of the late Jack Marpaung is buried in Pondok Mitra Lestari Block C5 No.14, Bekasi.
