Simple Plan Announce Documentary Release Ahead Of 25th Anniversary

JAKARTA - The multi-platinum-winning pop punk band, Simple Plan announced that it will release a documentary film about the journey and success of their musical careers so far. The film is planned to air on the Prime Video platform in 2025.

They are currently on tour as they head for their 25th anniversary. The announcement of this documentary is also more encouraging news.

The production process for the film, whose title has not been revealed, is currently being worked on with Sphere Media. This announcement was made by the vocalist, Pierre Bouvier, directly in front of thousands of fans when they performed at the When We Were Young festival yesterday in Las Vegas.

"This film is the main spearhead of the 25th anniversary of our band which seems to be the most ambitious and special project we've ever done. Reaching this point feels like a complete moment to turn our journey around, as well as giving our fans a little snippet from our lives so far, both while we are on tour and at home," Simple Plan personnel said in a written broadcast, October 23.

"We have given no limit to Didier Charette - the director of this documentary, regarding anything related to our band, including the archives we have had so far. We entrusted her to tell our story. She went on a tour with us for a full year, and in the process, really took the essence of who we are as a band and we are also as ordinary people. We are very proud of this work and can't wait for the day our fans can watch and get to know us even deeper than before!"

This film will tell from the beginning the Simple Plan formation in Montreal at the end of the 1990s, the moment when they became increasingly known globally through the songs "Welcome to My Life", "Perfect", and "The Antidote", to the impact of their sustainability as one of the most successful punk rock bands in the world whose concert tickets always run out.

This documentary will feature never-before-seen archive footage, along with interview clips with personnel as well as several other punk pop music icons such as Mark Hoppus (Blink 182), Avril Lavigne, Dexter Holland and Noodles (The Offspring), and Fat Mike (NoFX). The documentary was produced by Sphere Media with executive producer Bruno Dubé, Renaud Chassé, and Marie-Herelène Tremblay, and was produced by Samuel.
