After Abbey Road, GIGI Plans To Record On Power Station

JAKARTA - GIGI will celebrate 30 years of musical travel through the GIGIInfinity concert which will be held at Istora Senayan, Central Jakarta on 24 August.

However, the band consisting of Armand Maulana (vocals), Dewa Budjana (guitar), Thomas Ramdhan (bass), and Gusti Hendy (drums) already have other plans that are no less big. They want to fulfill their dream recording at the legendary studio located in New York, Power Station.

"Actually, the four of us wanted to make a mini album or single on the Power Station, New York," said Thomas Ramdhan during a press conference at the GIGIInfinity concert in Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, July 31.

If the plan is realized, then GIGI will continue the story of those who have recorded in another legendary recording studio in London, Abbey Road.

"Why are we (Power Station) there? Because we see bands like U2 recordings there. For us, things like that are to encourage us. Indeed, recordings can be anywhere, but for our current age, we are so so that there will be 'love' again which is different," said Thomas.

"If the recording is there, we are nobody. That feeling is what we are looking for. So, it feels like it used to be," continued the bassist.

Furthermore, Thomas said the recording plan on the Power Station had long been planned. Due to the GIGIInfinity concert, they had to postpone the plan.

For information, Power Station is a music studio that was founded in 1977 in downtown New York, Manhattan.

Berlabel platinum and Grammy winners have been produced there. Several musicians and groups who have recorded their albums on Power Station include David Bowie, Diana Ross, Aerosmith, Pat Metheny Group, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Bon Jovi, Diana Krall, Natalie Cole, John Mayer, U2, Dream Theater, to Marijuana Hancock.
