Charly Van Houten's Children's Blessing Proves Its Musical Ability Through EP 5 Yourself

JAKARTA - After releasing two singles in 2022, Restu van Houten is back at once with five new songs in extended play (EP) or a mini album titled 5 Diri.

Through his inaugural EP, Charly van Houten's son wanted to show critics that he was able to produce a work. He didn't want to be underestimated and considered to be just domplementing his father's big name.

"Many people think that I can't make songs and depend on my father," said Restu through a press release received by VOI, Sunday, May 5.

"It doesn't mean I'm Charly van Houten's son, I can't do anything. I present this EP to prove that I can produce an original work," he continued.

EP 5 Diri symbolizes five different packaging, ia the theme, five personality, and five songs with different stories.

Meanwhile, 5 Diri involved several other musicians in the cultivation process, such as Rafi Sumantri and Ivan Dewanto as producers. Meanwhile, the lyrics are mostly written by Restu himself.

The Pujaan woman became the opening track written by Restu with her colleague, Rafi Gymbal. Carrying a Ska rhythm, this song talks about waiting for the woman who is the idol.

Then, 'Lirih' as the second track features Restu's emotional side as a singer and songwriter. Because he wants to show the right nuances, the process of writing this song takes no longer than other songs.

Mother's father became the next song Restu wrote for her parents, which is called the source of the strength of all children in the world.

I express differences in what I felt when I was little and mature in this song. When I was a child, when I fell, our knees were hurt. When I was an adult, getting to know life and love, the pain moved to the heart," said Restu about the song 'Father Mother'.

Then, 'And I' became the main track that presented the nuances of pop music with a fresher new touch. This song was written by Restu when idolizing someone.

"About music, I want to remember the 2000s band vibes, and I made it a reference for 'And Ku'. That's why this song is a focus track," said Restu.

Finally, 'Heart To Die' is the closing of EP. This song tells the story of a man who left his previous lover for another woman. Through this song, Restu tries to come out to experiment with a newer musical style.

Along with the launch of 5 Diri, the label also expressed its support for Restu to prove itself as a self-employed singer and songwriter.
