Josh Freese Tells The Moment Dave Grohl Recruited Joins Foo Fighters

JAKARTA - One of the toughest moments of Foo Fiters was when Taylor Hawkins died. The sudden departure made the hearts of the personnel and fans sad.

They believe no one will be able to replace the drummer with all his charisma. When the tribute was held, Hawkins' son's action behind the drums made the atmosphere blue. He is believed to be his father's successor.

But in May 2023, Josh Freese was finally announced as a new drummer. Now, when he has been part of the Foo Fighters for almost a year, he remembers the moment he first joined.

"At that time I was walking with my wife and dogs. Show me Dave 20 minutes ago. At that time my wife said 'I know why he called," he told Rick Beato.

Freese said at that time he would not bother being recruited as a member. Until the offer was made by Dave, he was confused about his reaction.

"We've talked about drummers. And we want you to fill that position," Josh Freese said, imitating Dave Grohl.

Freese did not respond to the invitation with joy or enthusiasm. For a while he remained silent before realizing that this would be a big decision.

"When you are invited by someone who has been with you all this time as a singer, guitarist and drummer, you can only convince yourself to take this opportunity," he explained.

Until now Josh Freese is still the mainstay of Foo Fighters, not to replace Taylor Hawkins. Instead, he continued the spirit of music of the deceased, and continued to celebrate with personnel and fans.
