WAMI Urges The Public To Be Careful About Online Fraud In Collecting Music Royalties

JAKARTA - The issue of music royalties in Indonesia is still far from perfect. Many songwriters have complained about the work of the Collective Management Institute (LMK) in charge of collecting royalties for performing rights.

However, that does not mean that the existing LMK works without clear rules. There are various conditions that must be met when you want to collect royalties.

In this case, it is not impossible for irresponsible parties to appear on behalf of one of the LMKs in Indonesia and collect royalties from users.

Indonesian Music Wahana (WAMI) as one of the LMKs in Indonesia, recently warned the public not to be deceived by irresponsible parties in collecting royalties.

Through uploads on the official Instagram account, WAMI uploaded several screenshots of several fraud cases.

'BE CAREFUL FRAUD! Indonesian Music Wahana (WUMI) NEVER COLLECTS ANY COST!' WAMI wrote in the caption of the upload, Monday, April 1.

"THE OFFICIAL EMAIL DOMAIN WAMI is @wami.id. If you receive an email on behalf of WAMI but use a domain other than @wami.id, it can be ascertained it is a fraud," he continued.
