JAKARTA - British heavy metal band Judas Priest has been on the music stage for more than five decades. Formed since 1969, Ian Hill has continued to be on stage until now.

Ian Hill, who was an initial member, was 72 years old. The bassist emphasized that Judas Priest had not thought of retiring from the music stage.

"No, we don't have any plans to retire yet. We can still perform. The time to think about retirement is when your performance starts to decline and you don't do well," said Ian Hill when interviewed by Rock FM Spain recently.

"Then you have to think about it. We are not stupid, we know that we are not getting younger and there will be times for us to retire, but there are no plans for that," he said.

Not only that, Hill also said he had never thought of working on other music projects outside of Judas Priest, although some personnel such as Glenn Tipton (guitar) and Rob Halford (vocals) had done it.

"Not really, no. I mean, Glenn and Rob have done their own thing and it requires a lot of things. Basically, you start again from scratch. And as a pragmatic, you start thinking, do you really want it. Take it, start from scratch," said Ian Hill.

"But whatever I want to describe musically, I got it from Judas Priest. It's always been my first love, the band, and will continue like that," he continued.

"When we finally retire, maybe, I don't know, I'll start an old blues band with some of my old friends in the local area and maybe play in old pubs. But, other than that, I never considered doing anything with myself.."
