Bimbim Says Slank Takes Neutral Position In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Different from the last two Presidential Elections (Pilpres), 2014 and 2019, Slank did not appear to be too vocal in facing the 2024 Presidential Election.

Bimbim stated that this time Slank chose a neutral position. The band, which is famous for its political criticism, will not support any of the three pairs of Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates that are currently contesting.

The Slank frontman admitted that he knew the three presidential candidates who were competing, and his communication with the three people was still good until now.

Bimbim emphasized one thing, so that differences in choice do not make supporters hostile. According to him, democracy itself is a difference. He hopes that this series of elections will run peacefully.

"Whatever happens, it must be peaceful, democracy is different. Because all of the candidates we know, all the candidates who meet me have good words, only if they meet each other they will fight. It means that everyone has good intentions, only the communication is a bit different," said Bimbim.

"Yes, democracy is important in communication, the heart is calm. If it is peaceful, the people will also follow," he added.

When asked further about his assessment of the three pairs of Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates, Bimbim chose not to comment further.
