JAKARTA - Johnny Marr issued a warning on fake voice messages produced by AI that may look like him.

Musicians and former members of The Smiths through their official X/Twitter account shared a tweet that advised fans to be aware of fake messages that might be circulating.

The message appears to have come from him but was made using artificial intelligence (AI).

"Warnings to people to be aware of fake messages from me produced by AI, including voice messages. If anyone receives them please send me details because I really want to have a dialogue with AI Johnny, which I hope is actually not smarter than me... compared to me," chirped Marr.

Fans responded to the comment: "What if this is Johnny's AI trying to convince us all that this is the original Johnny?".

Meanwhile another said: "Even AI can't play a guitar like you, Johnny. I'm sure of that."

advise fans to be alert to fake messages that may be circulating.

Marr is not the first musician to speak up about AI. Artists who oppose AI include Hozier (who is considering protesting), Noel Gallagher (who calls the album maker a fake Oasis as a hatidiot) and Nick Cave (which describes it as a terrible raid on humans).

Concerns also arise surrounding issues related to copyright and payment of advertising material. UK Music Interim Chief Executive (Efficient Music Chief) UK Tom Kiehl urged Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to respond to concerns in the music industry about AI by introducing several forms of legal protection around developing technology.

Kiehl and UK Music argue that AI can be a form of music laundry', which opens up opportunities for creatives not to receive compensation for their work.

Pada September lalu, CMM menerbitkan lima aturan dasar yang mereka ingin perusahaan terapkan dalam mengembangkan teknologi AI musik.

Five main goals are outlined to ensure that all training, licensing, and commercialization of a musical-making generative AI model in the music sector can be developed in a way that is beneficial to their respective creators and rights.

Just warning to people to watch out for fake messages from me generated by AI, including voice messages. If everyone receives one please send them details as I'd quit like to have a dialogue with AI Johnny, who I really hope isn't actually bigger than me...than I.
