Bono Calls New Album U2 Will Become An Unreasonable Guitar Album

JAKARTA - U2 vocalist Bono shared the latest news about their upcoming new album, and reiterated that it would be an 'unreasonable guitar album'.

This comes a year after he previously expressed his desire to release a noisy guitar album, without compromise, and make no sense, calling AC/DC one of his effects.

Now in a new interview, he also said that apart from being an 'unreasonable guitar album' this album will also come with a jarring 'chorus'.

I announced it, without discussion, as an absurd guitar album. And Edge called me and said, 'How come it doesn't make sense?' And I said, 'how come it doesn't make sense for you to be ready to accept it', Bono told MOJO magazine.

"I don't think the world is waiting for a new U2 album," added Bono. I think we should give them a reason to be interested. I just want to write a good song, because that's where U2 starts with a great chorus, a clear idea. And let's go back there, but do it with gasoline and matches.

Bassist Adam Clayton added: "We turned on the amplIES. I certainly think the rock we all grew up in was 16 and 17 years old, the roughness of Patti Smith's record, Iggy Pop... that kind of power is something we want to reconnect."

This statement comes after U2 recently told Zane Lowe that they had an "extraordinary new song" and hinted that the song was "immediately ready".

There are a lot of things that we have prepared and there are also things that need to be cleaned a little bit, but they will be ready soon. I tell you, we have some amazing new songs. It was really fun, "said guitarist The Edge at the time.

Bono added: "Edge has about 100 songs in his bag. I have about 20... but [bassist] Adam [Clayton] has something to donate."

The vocalist said U2 will eventually succeed in "finding the best 10" songs, and telling Lowe 'that's all you need' for an album. 10. And that's your reason to stay," continued the vocalist.
