Held Tomorrow, CLIMATE Fest Ready To Realize Environmentally Friendly Music Concerts

JAKARTA - The IKLIM Fest music festival will be held at Monkey Forest, Ubud, Bali on Saturday, November 4. This event also coincided with the release of sonic/panik, a compilation album from 13 well-known Indonesian musicians about the earth and the climate crisis.

Musicians involved in sonic/panic will perform songs that they create on the music stage for the first time. They are Endah N Rhesa, Navicula, Tony Q Rastafara, Tuantigabelas, Iksan Skutter, FSTVLST, Made Mawut, Nova Filastine, Gurant Kabudul, Kai Mata, Rhythm Rebels, and Prabumi.

In order to realize an environmentally friendly music festival, a reuse protocol will be applied or a re-purpose protocol to reduce single-use waste that is usually produced at many music festivals.

The waste is closely related to the issue of climate change. Not only when it has become waste, plastic has contributed emissions since the extraction process. Plastic waste prevention can be done anywhere, including general activities such as music festivals," said Tiza Mafira in a statement, Friday, November 3.

In addition, IKLIM Fest will take advantage of renewable energy from solar energy as a source of power that revives the music stages.

"The sound and lighting of the stage will partly use solar power. The goal is to reduce carbon emissions produced from this event," said Gede Robi of the Navicula band.

"By implementing these steps, we hope that it can be an inspiration for festivals or other music concerts that we can make big events but remain environmentally friendly," he continued.

Later, visitors will also get tree seedlings for free for them to take home and plant as a step to offset the carbon offsettings from this event.

In addition to playing music and building awareness of the climate crisis, the Fest CLIMATE is expected to be an example of a more environmentally friendly music performance.
