AMM 2023, Medan Musicians Forum Shows Off

Head of the Medan Tourism Office Yuda Setiawan said the Medan Music Award (AMM) 2023 was a forum for Medan musicians to show off to display their talents.

"In terms of the creative economy, we see many residents, especially Medan's young people who have talent for making and singing songs. However, so far they have seemed to keep their talents and enjoy them for themselves", Yuda said at a 2023 AMM press conference in Medan, Thursday, quoting Antara.

This situation, he continued, made the Medan City Government implement AMM 2023, in collaboration with the Association of Singer Artists, Songwriters and Musicians of the Republic of Indonesia (PAPPRI).

Through AMM 2023, Yuda said the Mayor of Medan Bobby Nasution not only provided opportunities for local musicians to create, but also received high awards for their work.

"This is so that Medan musicians can penetrate national and international levels", said Yuda.

He added, if given the right channel to develop capabilities, Medan musicians can align themselves with other famous names in Indonesia.

One of the figures that Yuda can be used as an example is Lyodra. The woman surnamed Ginting who was born in Medan on June 21, 2003, is the winner of the tenth season of the Indonesian Idol talent search event.

Not only the Indonesian Idol champion, Lyodra has also been the best in the international solo singing competition Sanremo Junior in Italy in 2017 for the 13-15 year age category.

"So we hope that with the 2023 AMM, national music producers, especially in Jakarta, can look at Medan as a source of talented musicians", said Yuda.

AMM 2023 will be held on November 10-12 in Medan.

The Medan Tourism Office stated that AMM 2023 will be held in a lively manner because it is the highest music award given to Medan musicians.

The activity will be enlivened by the presence and appearance of PAPPRI artists including from the Central PAPPRI.

In AMM 2023, there are 15 music genres included for awards, such as pop, skirt, jaz, blues, rap, "country", regae, "ballad", and rock.

Since registration was opened in May 2023, there have been around 80 Medan City musicians registering their work to compete for the title in AMM. Registration will close on October 15, 2023 with a minimum target of 100 musicians who include their work.

The incoming music products will be assessed by curators both inside and outside the Medan PAPPRI, such as Hansen Teo, Teuku Rio, and Yogi Wasta.

In addition, the work was also selected by representatives of the Central PAPPRI, including Dwiki Dharmawan, Marcell, Andre Hehanussa, and Once Mekel.
