JAKARTA - Thomas Bangalter discussed his career after Daft Punk and explained the reasons behind his separation from Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo.

The musician spoke in a new interview when he explained that he wanted to distance himself from the sound of technology infused.

"Daft Punk is a project that blurs the boundary between reality and fiction and the character of this robot," Thomas told the BBC, quoted Thursday.

"That is a very important point for me and Guy-Manuel not to damage the narrative at that time."

I love technology as a tool [but] somehow I am afraid of the nature of the relationship between the machine and ourselves. Now that the story is over, it's interesting to uncover part of a very human-based creative process and not any algorithm," he continued.

According to Bangalter, one of the reasons behind the new distance from electronic-based music is the rise of AI (artificial intelligence), and its increasing impact on creative outlets.

"My concern about the emergence of artificial intelligence goes beyond its use in musicmaking," he said, explaining how some fans would misunderstand the duo's intentions.

[In Daft Punk,] we try to use this machine to express something very touching that machines cannot feel, but can be felt by humans. We are always on the human side and not on the side of technology... Even though I really like this character, the last thing I want, in the world we live in, in 2023, is a robot."

Thomas and Guy decided to dissolve Daft Punk in 2021.
